Joanne Fitzhenry and Luan van Lingen share a remarkable parallel journey that defines the ethos of our firm. Both women began their legal careers from the ground up as legal secretaries—Joanne in 2000 and Luan in 2007.
Driven by a hunger for growth, both pursued their LLB degrees while working full-time. This path required immense grit, balancing the demands of high-pressure law firms with late-night studies. It is this shared resilience that brought them together.
Joanne founded the firm in 2022, and Luan joined shortly after, solidifying a partnership rooted in practical experience. Because they have worked at every level of a law firm, they understand the system inside out—from administrative hurdles to High Court litigation.
Today, Fitzhenry McLaren Attorneys Inc. is a 100% women-owned firm dedicated to providing “no-nonsense,” transparent, and accessible legal protection.
